A brand is any territory you run as a unit: a service line like "Roof Pro" or "HVAC Plus", a client account if you're an agency, or a franchise location. Each brand keeps its own markets and ZIP codes, and admins control which brands each user can see. Brands are unlimited, and so are ZIP codes. ### Can an agency manage multiple clients in one workspace? Yes. We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where practicable. ## 3. Account Registration and Security You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at legal@areaops.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. You may not share accounts, sell access to your account, or use automated means to create accounts. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. ## 4. Acceptable Use You agree not to use the Service to: - Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right; - Upload, transmit, or distribute malicious code or content; - Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Service beyond normal use; - Circumvent or interfere with authentication, security, or rate-limiting mechanisms; - Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Service; - Use the Service to provide services to third parties in a manner that competes with AreaOps without our prior written consent; - Transmit, store, or process data in a manner that violates applicable privacy laws. We may monitor use of the Service to ensure compliance with these Terms and reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section without prior notice. ## 5. Subscriptions, Billing, and Refunds The Service is offered on a subscription basis. Subscription fees and billing cycles are described on our pricing page. All fees are quoted in US dollars and are exclusive of taxes unless otherwise stated. **Free trial.** We may offer a limited free trial period as described at sign-up. No credit card is required during the trial. If you do not subscribe by the end of it, your account becomes read-only: your data is retained and remains viewable and exportable, but you will not be able to make changes until you subscribe. The same applies if a paid subscription is cancelled or lapses. **Billing.** Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. Payment is processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. You authorize us to charge your payment method for all fees due. **Renewals.** Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time through the billing portal accessible from your account settings. **Refunds.** We do not provide refunds for partial months or unused subscription periods except where required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at legal@areaops.app within 30 days of the charge. **Price changes.** We reserve the right to change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Your continued use of the Service after the price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new price. ## 6. Data Ownership and License **Your data.** You retain all ownership rights to the data you upload, import, or create within the Service ("Customer Data"), including brand configurations, ZIP-code assignments, market names, and any other operational data. **License to us.** You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process, store, and display your Customer Data solely to provide and improve the Service. We do not sell your Customer Data to third parties. **Pre-loaded data.** The Service includes geographic, demographic, and ZIP-code reference data sourced from public datasets (U.S. Census Bureau, OpenStreetMap, and similar sources). This data is provided as-is for operational convenience and may not reflect real-time conditions. **Data portability.** You may export your Customer Data in CSV format at any time from the Service. Upon termination of your account, we will retain your data for 30 days, after which it may be deleted from our systems. ## 7. Confidentiality Each party may have access to confidential information of the other party in connection with the Service. Each party agrees to protect the other party's confidential information with the same degree of care it uses to protect its own confidential information, but no less than reasonable care, and not to disclose such information to any third party without the disclosing party's prior written consent. This obligation does not apply to information that: (a) is or becomes publicly known through no breach of this section; (b) was rightfully known before disclosure; (c) is independently developed without use of confidential information; or (d) is required to be disclosed by law or court order. ## 8. Intellectual Property The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and all other content (excluding Customer Data), is owned by AreaOps or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership of our intellectual property to you. Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your internal business operations during the subscription term. ## 9. Third-Party Services The Service integrates with third-party services including Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (transactional email), and public data APIs (U.S. Census Bureau, OpenStreetMap). Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services. ## 10. Disclaimers THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We make no representations regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular business purpose of such data. You are solely responsible for any business decisions made based on data from the Service. ## 11. Limitation of Liability TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL AREAOPS, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Keys are prefixed `aoa_live_` and are shown once. API keys work on the MCP endpoint; the REST agent endpoints additionally accept a signed-in AreaOps browser session. Named demographic signals then nudge the score up or down based on how the ZIP compares to national norms for that signal. The model is **additive**: each signal contributes independently. The final score is the baseline plus the sum of all signal contributions, clamped to the 0–100 range. No single signal can dominate the score on its own. Each signal contribution is computed as: contribution = base_value × vertical_weight Where `base_value` is derived from the ZIP's Census metric relative to the national distribution for that metric, and `vertical_weight` is a per-vertical constant that reflects how much that signal matters for the industry. Weights can be positive or negative — for example, high commercial density is a positive signal for B2B verticals but negative for residential trades. The reasons behind each score — the specific signals that raised or lowered it — are stored alongside the score and surfaced in plain language inside the AreaOps UI. All scoring signals come from the US Census Bureau's American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates. Signals include homeownership rate, median household income, median home value, median home year built (used to derive housing age), single-family-detached housing share, and population and household counts. Business density data comes from the Census ZIP Business Patterns dataset. How often is the data updated? The underlying Census ACS data is updated annually when the Census Bureau releases a new 5-Year Estimate vintage. AreaOps ingests the new vintage and recomputes all scores within 30 days of the release. Why is the score different across verticals for the same ZIP code? Signal weights differ by vertical. A ZIP with very old housing stock (pre-1980) scores high for roofing — older roofs need replacement sooner — but that same signal is less relevant for HVAC or landscaping, which weight homeownership and income more heavily. The additive model adjusts each signal's contribution based on the vertical's profile. What does a score of 50 mean? Every ZIP starts at 50. Signals with above-average values for the vertical push the score higher; below-average values push it lower. A score near 50 means the ZIP is roughly average across all relevant signals for that vertical — not a strong target, but not actively weak either. Can I customize the weights? Yes. In Settings → Targeting, operators can toggle plain-language emphasis settings ('Focus on older homes', 'Focus on higher-income areas', etc.) that apply a multiplier to the relevant signals without exposing raw numbers. Advanced users can also override per-signal weights directly. Are scores available for every ZIP code in the US? Scores are computed for all residential and mixed-use ZIP codes where Census ACS data is available. We receive only a Stripe customer ID and limited billing metadata (plan, status, renewal date) — we do not store card numbers. **Geographic reference data** - The Service includes pre-loaded ZIP-code boundaries and U.S. Census demographic data (income, homeownership, housing age) sourced from public datasets. This data is not collected from you — it is integrated into the product for operational use. ## 3. How We Use Your Information We use the information we collect to: - Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service; - Authenticate users and manage access permissions; - Process subscription payments and send billing-related communications; - Send transactional emails such as invitations, account alerts, and trial expiry notices; - Monitor for security incidents, abuse, and policy violations; - Respond to your support requests and communications; - Generate aggregated, anonymized analytics to improve the product; - Comply with legal obligations. If you delete your account or cancel your subscription: - Your Customer Data (brands, markets, ZIP assignments) is retained for 30 days to allow for recovery, then deleted. - Billing records and audit logs may be retained for up to 7 years for legal and accounting compliance. - Log data used for security monitoring is retained for up to 90 days.
