--- title: "About AreaOps — Service Area Intelligence for Home Services" description: "AreaOps is built for the teams that run home-services territories: operators, marketing agencies, and franchise teams. Learn about the platform, the scoring data, and the team." url: https://areaops.app/about --- About AreaOps # One live source of truth for home-services territory AreaOps scores every US ZIP code for demand fit using Census demographic data, and gives operators, agencies, and franchise teams a shared, live view of which territories to target, own, and protect. ## Why AreaOps exists Multi-location home-services brands spend heavily on local search, direct mail, and door-knocking, and a share of it always lands in ZIP codes that should never have been in the campaign: university neighborhoods, dense renter corridors, ZIP codes where no one owns the roof they live under. The fix exists in the Census Bureau's public data: homeownership rates, housing age, median income, and single-family housing share draw a clear picture of which ZIP codes convert for trades businesses. The problem is scale. Extracting that picture per vertical, across hundreds of ZIPs, for multiple brands at once used to require a data team that most franchise ops groups don't have. The same problem lands on the desk of every agency running those campaigns for a client. AreaOps packages that analysis into a 0–100 targeting score for every ZIP in the country, per vertical, refreshed from Census ACS data each year. Roofing weights home age and ownership heavily; HVAC leans on income and climate; pest control rewards ownership and density. Operators see the score, the signals behind it, and a live territory map, with nothing to build or maintain. ## What we believe ### Every score shows its work Each ZIP score traces back to a specific Census signal (owner-occupancy, home age, median income), and the reasons are surfaced in plain language. No black box. If you disagree with a score, you can see exactly why it landed there and adjust the weights for your vertical. ### Built for operators, not analysts The user is a VP of Ops, a Franchise Development Director, or the agency strategist running their campaigns. Twelve priorities, none of them data science. AreaOps answers “which ZIPs are worth it?” in seconds, without writing SQL or opening a BI tool. ### Coverage isn't conversion Being in a ZIP code isn't the same as that ZIP being worth being in. Draw a 30-mile circle and you pick up university rentals, brand-new construction with no replacement market, and low-ownership corridors. AreaOps separates the ZIPs that convert from the ones that just spend. ## Founder Tucker Coffey Founder, AreaOps Tucker built AreaOps after years inside multi-location home-services operations, watching six-figure ad budgets get aimed by gut feel and spreadsheets that were out of date the day they were saved. AreaOps is the tool he wanted on the inside: Census-grade ZIP targeting, per vertical, without a data team standing between the operator and the answer.
